A Happy Thanksgiving Wish to Everyone

This is the perfect time of year to reflect on all the ways God has kept our glasses at least half full, and if we really think about it, probably overflowing. Let's take the time to get together with the special people in our lives and thank each other for being part of that abundance. And this is even before we sit before a cornucopia of food, enough to fill each one of us to having to loosen our belts from our overeating. Let's think of those in need and do all we can (maybe even a lonely prayer that may move mountains without our being aware of it).will be the only opportunity we'll have to give. But each of us has much to be grateful for if we just turn our heads and look in that direction. In the midst of suffering we have a compassionate God that leads our every step toward his riches if we just allow Him. Let's thank Him today and everyday.

Designing Your Garden

We are back to the time of year where our gardens can be as spectacular as our busy imaginations allow. No crabgrass coming up to mar the look of our vivid green lawn. No weeds in the flowerbeds. And no bugs and mosquitoes to dishearten our best of intentions. In our minds the garden is exactly as we want it to be.
Our upcoming series will help you put that imaginary perfect garden on paper so that in the spring you can realize your dream garden. Keep in mind that designing a garden is both a scientific and a creative undertaking.

The scientific minded gardener evaluates a sites potential by taking into consideration soil type, existing plants, drainage along with available sunlight and shade, wind exposure and other environmental elements.
The creative minded gardener selects and arranges plants based on the color, form and texture that pleases him, and his goal and purpose are never lost sight of: to create beauty, produce food, or perhaps to create the scenery for outdoor living. Your garden's design will evolve over time, and you should be constantly aware of changes or improvements that can make your garden more fitting to your lifestyle.
Garden design is a series of choices. Understanding fundamental site analysis and the intention of your garden (what you have to work with along with the purpose the garden is to serve or the feeling you want it to invoke) will help you make better choices as you plan your own little Eden.

We will be taking you step by step through these factors in upcoming entries, guiding your imagination so that the final garden you picture in your mind can be transposed into your paradise successfully.
